What a happy day! Kinley had another echocardiogram this morning to check on the blood vessel opening in her heart (PDA). We are thrilled to share that it has now completely closed! Both girls will have follow-up appointments after they are discharged, but for now we have two healthy hearts to be thankful for!
Kinley is relaxing!
Kinley is still off her breathing support. This morning, during one of her feeding times, she was too tired to finish on her own, so the nurse had to replace her feeding tube. It's actually kind of nice to have it back, only because she doesn't have to be pushed too hard to finish eating on her own. If she falls asleep, she can still continue "eating" through her tube.
Kinley lost weight again last night. I think it's because of all the calories she's burning eating from a bottle and nursing. Plus, when she's nursing, she doesn't get the extra calories that are added into the milk in her bottle. Having the feeding tube back in will allow her to eat a bit more, which should help as well. She currently weighs 4 lbs. 14 oz.
"I weigh 6 pounds!" -Devyn
Devyn, on the other hand, made it to 6 pounds last night!!! She still receives almost all of her feedings through her tube. Although she is allowed to nurse or try a bottle twice a day.
