Helmet Hair

December 14, 2015

Happy belated Thanksgiving from two of our turkeys!
(Brylee on left, Ellie on right)

We had a wonderful holiday and were lucky to have Grandma Carol here to celebrate (and cook) with us. We stuck with our usual Thanksgiving traditions: turkey, football, and shopping! As always, we have much to be thankful for, but most of all, we are thankful for our four beautiful girls and amazingly supportive friends and families.

Ellie and Brylee are growing like weeds! They were fitted for helmets to correct their head shape last month, and received them just before Thanksgiving. We were worried about how they would respond to them, but have been pleasantly surprised that they don't seem to mind them much at all! They'll probably have to wear them for 2-3 more months. The helmets should correct Ellie's flattened spot on the back of her head, and Brylee's uneven head shape due to favoring one side while sleeping.

Their most recent accomplishment is sitting up by themselves. They scoot, wiggle, and slither all over the place; and push up into a crawling position, although they have yet to actually crawl.

Brylee Quinn is still our runt. They haven't been weighed lately, but I'd say she's at least 2-3 pounds lighter than Ellie.

Pajama parties on Fridays when the girls are home with Daddy.

Toddler beds have arrived on Kabuki Avenue thanks to Grandpa and Grandma Marsh! I realized as Dad starting putting them together, however, that I never took photos of the big girls' room once it was finished earlier this year. For the second time in two years, my girlfriend (and unofficial interior designer) Nichole came to visit and spent the weekend painting, crafting, and decorating. She is amazing! She takes the things I pin on Pinterest, and turns them into reality. I also have to give credit to Grandma Carol for making the crib skirts, and to Dad for his work on refurbishing the cribs. I LOVE their room!

The banner reads, "sisters." I think it's the only piece of the room that I made all by myself:-)

Their one-year-old photos and keepsake boxes from our NICU days. Can you spot their footprints? Look in Kinley's box for the preemie-size diaper that was HUGE on them when they were born!

Eight months old already!
They're getting so big!

Six, Seven, Ape!

Monday, November 2nd

So much to share...so little time! I've been ignoring the blog, so it's time to get back on track! Where do I begin? Since the last post, we've celebrated the 6th and 7th month milestones for the little ones, and we've even added a couple monkeys into the mix!

Our biggest celebration from the last couple of months....Brylee and Ellison turned 6 months old on September 27th! Mom is always looking for an excuse to eat sweets. Devyn and I may have helped them eat their cupcakes!
Happy 1/2 Birthday!!!

Flashback: Kinley & Devyn, 1/2 Birthday
December 17, 2013

Ellie is the chunkier baby....can you guess who is who?
Ellie: 15 lbs, 13 oz, 26 inches
Brylee: 13 lbs, 8.5 oz, 25 inches

Overall, the girls are doing great! Brylee had some bloodwork done which determined her iron levels are too low, so she's taking iron drops for that. Ellie needs to have her head shape checked to make sure it's not too flat...otherwise she'll need to wear a helmet to reshape it. In true Marshmallow fashion....there's always SOME kind of followup appointment needed every time we visit the pediatrician, but overall...no major concerns. We'll take it!

Both girls are finally starting to enjoy solid foods. As you can see...Ellie is quite the eater:-) Brylee is a bit pickier. They like Mom's homemade oatmeal with fruit the most.

Brylee is ready for her license!                   Ellie is pretty good at sitting up!

We love these onesies from ZTA sister, Aimee!
(Just for the record.....there is NOTHING free about the second one. NOTHING!)

Auntie Nichole sent the girls these adorable Big Sis and Lil' Sis shirts. Now, if we can just get them to sit still and look at the camera at the same time....
Attempt #1
Just like a teenager...give her a cell phone and she'll be content for the moment.
 Attempt #2
Kinley is disgusted by Devyn's behavior!
Attempt #3
Good enough!

Auntie Kim came to visit us in October! I think we kept her pretty busy between doctor appointments and diaper changes! Devyn still looks at her picture and says, "Keeem!"
She has her arms full!
We took the girls to a splash pad one afternoon!

And just like that...another month has passed. Seven months old already!

The big finale of the month....Halloween! We spent two evenings at a local Halloween festival at the Springs Preserve last weekend, made a trip to a local pumpkin patch, then of course went trick-or-treating on Halloween night, and finished off the festivities carving pumpkins.

Kinley loved the big slide!

Brylee is ready for the big night!
Devyn was ready to GO! She heard the word "walk" and wanted nothing to do with photos.
 No one likes their costume...
Even Miss Lily didn't want to miss out!                     Grumpy monkey!

We hate Halloween!
Devyn leading the way!
 Pumpkin time!
Kinley prefers to observe the mess, while Devyn jumps right in!

Who needs a pumpkin when you have newspaper to eat, and fight over!

Our disastrous attempt at Halloween photos.
(Mom and Dad were not supposed to be in the photo.)

The one and only successful photo:-)

This wasn't part of the plan...but it never is! This is our life:-)
