Getting close...

Wednesday, August 7

Little Miss Kinley has been stealing the show lately! Today she decided that she no longer needed her breathing and feeding tubes, so she pulled them out completely. Normally, the nurse would just replace them, but Kinley was doing so well without them that she asked the doctor for permission to try going without any support.

 Kinley with no breathing support.

Kinley went all evening with absolutely no breathing support, even while eating two of her feedings from a bottle. During the second feeding tonight, however, she was starting to struggle a bit. But luckily Dad was there to feed her, and she always does better eating for Dad. Chances are good that she will be back on her oxygen tube by tomorrow morning, but it's still a good sign that she's getting close to being without it permanently.

Dad's a pro!

Additionally, Kinley has been eating exclusively from a bottle for almost 24 hours now. If she can keep this up for another day or so, she will no longer need a feeding tube.

Kinley's weigh-in

Apparently Devyn and Kinley overheard that they were getting near the 6 and 5 pound marks. They must be trying to watch their figures because they both lost weight last night.

Devyn doing what she does best!

Devyn had her feeds increased today. She's now up to 50 cc's. She ate about 15 of those cc's from a bottle twice today. She's still having a hard time remembering to pause for a breath while she's eating, so she tires out very quickly.
