Over the Hill

Saturday, August 17

Devyn and Kinley are 61 days old today. Although we've hit our bumps in the road, I can't believe how blessed our family has been through this whole ordeal. It's hard not to become impatient for the girls to come home, but we know they will let us know when they're ready.

The Marsh girls were much happier today!  They're feeling much better after their shots. Devyn ate an entire feeding from a bottle today! This was a first....normally she eats less than half before needing her feeding tube. Hopefully this is a sign that she's almost got this whole eating thing figured out!

Where's the baby?!?!
This is what I saw in Devyn's crib when I arrived today.

She wiggled her swaddle loose and sank down to the bottom of her crib.

Kinley was a good eater today too! She ate all three of her morning feeds from a bottle with no pacing (where the nurse has to force her to pause and take a breath). And this evening when we were there, she nursed for about 15 minutes and ate 40 cc's from a bottle as well! She is ready to come home as soon as she proves to the doctors that she can continue to eat without requiring her feeding tube.

Kinley the ladybug.

Devyn's breathing continues to improve as well. The doctor came by today and turned down her oxygen support again. He said, "Shh.....don't tell her I'm turning it down. If I don't tell her, she won't notice." :-)  We weren't there for the weigh-in tonight, but I'm guessing she gained weight. She is such a little chunk! Her newborn-size clothes aren't even big on her anymore. I told her she's not allowed to grow out of any more clothes before she comes home from the hospital.

Devyn got a new hat!

Kinley was still wide awake after her feeding.
