Taking Turns

Tuesday, July 9

Today it was Kinley's turn for a blood transfusion. When I arrived at the hospital, the doctor came to talk about Kinley's progress. Her blood tests showed that her counts were a little low, and her heart rate has been fast. She's also been a little pale for the past couple days. SO, the doctor recommended a transfusion. In addition to helping her symptoms, we also hope it will help her come off of her respiratory support faster than she would without a transfusion.

Fortunately, I was able to hold her for a while before they put in her IV. The IV was the worst part of the whole process. They tried numerous times without success. Overall, it was a rough night for poor Kinley, but hopefully the transfusion will help her as much as it did Devyn.

Devyn continues to do well. Tonight during her cares, she weighed in at 3 lbs. 13 oz.! She's getting very close to 4 pounds!
