Kinley was the star of today's visit, as Devyn slept the whole time. When we arrived at the hospital she was undergoing an x-ray. Earlier the doctor had noticed that her stomach was enlarged due to a large amount of air inside it. After giving her some medicine, she was checked again (during our visit). The doctor reviewed her two x-rays and explained that the medicine had helped, but her stomach was still enlarged and full of air. This may be a result of the additives being combined with her milk to increase the calories. So, the doctor has maintained her feedings (with no increase) and will continue to monitor her before making any other changes. If the problem persists, she may have to get an IV so that she can receive fluids again.
Finishing up her x-ray
Besides her stomach, Kinley is doing quite well. Her breathing had stabilized somewhat and we were able to hold her today...burrito style! She still weighs 3 lbs. 1 oz. but hopefully those extra calories will start kicking in soon.
Burrito Baby!
Devyn hit some milestones today herself. Both the IV (from her transfusion) and her PICC line were removed today. So, just like her sister, she is no longer receiving IV fluids. She's on a milk-only diet now! Additionally, she is now up to 25 cc's per feeding and weighs a whopping 3 lbs. 10 oz. Sorry--didn't get any pictures of Sleeping Beauty (aka Devyn) today.
This preemie hat is way to big for my little head! -Kinley
Even Nichole got to hold Kinley. Lucky girl!
We didn't get to spend a lot of time at the hospital today, as we were working hard on the girls' nursery. It's looking really good! Nichole and I dragged Justin around all day picking up things for the girls' room. I will have pictures to post soon...
