Today the girls are three weeks old! Compared to the adventures yesterday, it was a quiet day. One of the NICU doctors, whom we spoke to about the girls the day they were born, returned from vacation today. He came by to comment on how well the girls were doing since we last saw him. For the first time, we were given an estimate on when to expect the girls to be sent home....late August! Of course, there is no guarantee, but it was nice to hear anyway.
Devyn had a particularly good day. She snuggled with me for over two hours, and meanwhile her oxygen levels remained at 21%, which is regular room air level. This is very happy news, because normally the girls' oxygen levels must be increased when they are removed from their beds.
Both girls had their feeds increased again today. Devyn is now at 30 cc's...a full ounce! And Kinley isn't far behind, receiving 28 cc's. Both girls have been taking their feeds very well.
Tonight, before we left the hospital, the nurse weighed the girls. Devyn had lost a bit of weight previously, but has now returned to 3 lbs. 11 oz. And Kinley has made it to 3 lbs. 2 oz. At the rate she's going, she may be able to catch up to her sister!
