What a fun (and funny) day we had! Justin had the day off from work, so we went to the hospital together today so that he could be there for his first feeding with Kinley.
The first big event was when the nurse rolled a crib over to Devyn's bedside. She's been upgraded to the "big girl" bed, just like her sister!
Switching out Devyn's incubator for the crib.
Before officially putting her in her crib, Dad helped with her care times. Well....Dad got more than he bargained for. As he was changing her, she decided it would be a good time to go #2. I'll spare you MOST of the details (and the hilarious, yet disgusting, picture I got), but let's just say that Dad was lucky the sides of her incubator blocked most of her surprise! I guess that was her way of saying "farewell" to her old bed. I was crying, I was laughing so hard. Even the nurses got a kick out of Dad's reaction. I think he forgave her quickly though:-)
Dad's showing Devyn her new crib.
Next, it was time for Kinley's feeding. Dad did great! Kinley was much more sleepy than she usually is around her feeding times, but she still did well. She ended up eating about 10 cc's.
Dad's first feeding
What a big girl!
Both girls have been doing very well. Hopefully Devyn will be taken off of CPAP soon so that she can try a bottle as well. Kinley's feeds were increased to 40 cc's today, so she has almost caught up with Devyn, who gets 45. And of course, they are still gaining weight. Even Kinley is growing out of her preemie clothes...mostly because she's so long!
More pictures from today.....
Mom and Devyn
She's either deep in thought or picking her nose:-)
